Getting Drunk

Holden is stupid about getting drunk. I mean he drinks to feel grown up and to get drunk. He does it so that he feels and looks grown up but in the end I think he just ends up looking like a fool. It's really stupid on his part. I mean, calling Sally and being like 'Hey, baby, I love you.' When I feel like they just broke up or something. It's like me if I were to get drunk today and call up my ex-boyfriend like nothing was wrong between us when their blatantly is. But I guess I'm a lot more mature that Holden in that aspect...I guess.... Holden is pretty much an immature weirdo if he were to be a real life person but this book makes us like him too much. It's a problem.

  1. I totally agree with you on him getting drunk, it seems like hes just throwing his life away, hes giving in to the pressures of life and trying to let lose, he believe that all older matture people have to drunk to be happy and have to get slipped up to have a good time, witch is totally the wrong aspecct, he's running for a clothing tunnel and isnt gunna make it in life if he keeps on this path, but i think that's why pheobe and these other charactors are here to let him know when hes getting to out of hand, he just has to be smart enought to see when there helping and when there hurting, so no i dont think hes an immature weirdo becuase he's just like most people who drunk, they dont know a better way and dont see it as being wrong.

  2. I guess most people like him are so focused on their image, even if it doesn't matter, that they end up looking like something they don't want to be. If he weren't trying to act so old maybe he wouldn't look so young. It's not so much that he's weird for doing it, it's more that he isn't comfortable with who he is so he trys to act like something he's not.
