Found

I thought I wanted to
Marry this girl.
I’m always
Calling her when I’m bored
Or drunk.

You’re Drunk.
Go to bed now.
Boy was I drunk!
I don’t think I was actually
Yelling into the phone.

Go home and go to bed.
She hung up on me.
I could go home.
She didn’t know that,
I was too drunk to stop and think.

G’night Sally baby.
Sally sweetheart darling.
Can you imagine how drunk I was?
I must have been drowning
To say something like
That.

  1. jenn! i really like your poem -- i think it speaks a lot about holden's character. he doesn't know what he wants, but in any mental state, he's willing to fight for it. are all of the lines direct quotes from the book? if so, that's pretty impressive :)

  2. Jenn, I love the simplicity of your poem. It tells the story of like three chapters in a few sentences. It really makes me wonder why holden is saying things like I must have been out of mind to say something like that or to call her. But, he's been calling her so much and saying things like that and also things like getting married... I think he might have deep feelings for her that he won't admit.
