Childhood and Adulthood
Even though Holden can be really immature I think he knows how to be more mature. I mean running away from places is pretty childish and if you were actually thinking you would not just spend all your money on just being alone for a couple days when your goal was to not be so lonely. And he's going to get into trouble for it with his parents later. That kind of immaturity is not uncommon among some people that I know. But its not something that I would go through with. So I guess I don't totally know where that was going but I think that Holden just is caught up in his childhood and does not want to be an adult yet. I can't exactly blame him.

Jenn,
ReplyDeletewhat you have said is so true. Holden is very immature but I think he wants to be more mature. Being more mature would make him like an adult and by being an adult he would be calling himself a hyprocrite. I think he does those immature things to kind of show people that he isn't an adult. Holden is still a child and he fears becoming an adult.
Jenn, I think that when he left the school, he did it so he can be an adult because ever since he got a hotel that is what he has been trying to do...I think he needs sometime alone to realize that he really needs people in his life.
ReplyDeleteI concur, Holden thinks he's so much different than anyone and everyone else. This is only because he can hear his own thoughts and not everyone elses. I just think that he is being a typical teenagery boy but for different reasons than most. What I'm trying to say is, I don't think he rebels just to rebel. Catch meh drift?
ReplyDeleteI like what you said Jenn.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it feel great just to run away? Get away from everything you are sick of... just go. I think it takes strength not to run away from something you are sick of. I often think about running out in the middle of class. (but not Mrs. Jorgensen's class :) I think that it is good to try to be able to focus on what I am not sick of, and bringing joy into a sickening situation.
